What is so special about our Heirloom Finish?
Our rocking horses are hand-rubbed with Danish Oil which penetrates deep into the wood. This primes, hardens, seals, finishes and protects the wood. Contrary to commom polyurethane finishes, Danish Oil is IN the wood NOT ON the wood, so there is nothing to chip, peel or wear away.
Another benefit is the ease of refinishing. Because the finish is in and not on the wood, there is no "stripping" involved, allowing for spot refinishing in case of mishap.
After oiling, our horses are then finished with several coats of paste wax, which serves as another protective layer. Paste wax gives the wood a smooth, soft feeling and an attractive shine, which is easily maintained by the owner.
